am from a long line of educators and have always had a passion to help students realize their true potential. Time and time again it's so gratifying to see how the stress levels of a student and the family can be drastically reduced with a little planning and forethought. There are a number of very good Executive Functioning, problem-solving solutions that have a great deal of merit, if implemented consistently. My own children have benefited from many of these strategies. What's behind the 'hamster-on-a-treadmill' mindset of repeating the same things that yield very little in return? The same disappointing outcomes are expected, and achieved! Procrastination is often a depression response stemming from feeling overwhelmed, so you 'blow it off'! Addressing each individuals' unique style of accomplishing daily tasks can be made easier and more productive by "tweaking" a current habit. For ex. learning homework strategies according to a student's learning style can be both helpful and a huge time saver.

As a painter, I know how critical it is to paint a layered and storied ground. Painting the ground on a canvas creates depth much like laying the groundwork to help identify and address deficits. Like with architecture, you may have the most stunning home, but unless that stunning home has the most optimal structural foundation, it is susceptible to ongoing, major, sometimes irreparable damage. Being able to move through the day as successfully and productively as possible, without poor executive functioning getting in your way, are achievable goals!
